Parent Volunteer Opportunities

ROOM PARENTS

Room parents are an important link between parents, teachers, and the Council. They help solicit volunteers for classroom and school functions; aid teacher(s) with party or special activity preparation; and organize classroom teacher gifts. We'd like two room parents per class and two for each day of PMO. A room parents meeting will be held soon to share enthusiasm, creativity and ideas.

FUNDRAISING

Fall/Halloween Festival
Our first event of the year is a relaxing evening of food and fellowship for teachers, parents, and kids. Help is needed with setup and clean-up, as well as taking tickets and serving food during the event.

Help is needed with set and close-down, as well as selling books during the Fair's open hours.

BID NIGHT OUT Silent and Live Auction
BID NIGHT OUT is our largest fundraiser of the year. Help is needed in planning and organizing the auction , soliciting auction items from local businesses, planning and preparing food, coordinating children's art projects, designing the auction catalog, organizing and setting up the auction, handing out bid numbers during the auction, and checking out after the auction, as well as many other jobs, both large and small.

WREATH SALES: Annual Holiday Fundraiser

Spring Festival/May Fair
The Spring Festival is our most labor-intensive fundraiser of the year. And nearly everyone is asked to participate in some way large or small. Help is needed in booking the rides and games, organizing the meal, scheduling parent helpers, setting up and cleaning up. In addition, all parents not otherwise involved are asked to staff a short shift during the event.

HOSPITALITY

The Hospitality committee organizes a variety of social events and related activities during the year, including the Nativity and party (for 4s and Kindergarten), DEAM food drive, and teachers' appreciation luncheon.

Help is needed in organizing and coordination each of these activities.

COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLICITY

The communications committee keeps parents and the public informed about the activities of our preschool (especially important dates and deadlines) via the monthly DPCC Press newsletter, special supplements, and website.

TEACHER/ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

The Teacher/Administrative Support Committee takes care of a variety of administrative details that help the teachers and the director including maintaining the library, answering phones in the office, assisting teachers on workdays, speech screening, Christmas ornaments, and coordinating letter cutting.

SCHOOL PICTURES

This committee assists with moving the children from their classrooms to the outdoors for picture taking and getting those sweet faces ready to smile. Come help the little cuties say cheese!

Help is needed in staffing school pictures.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS (PAID)

Ellen McClure - (404) 378-1770 emcclure@dpchurch.org
We need people to fill in for teachers and assistants any and all days. Put your name on the sub list and designate which days of the week you are available to be called. The pay is $30/day (9am to noon); alternatively, the amount earned can be applied to your child's tuition.

FINANCIAL

This committee prepares the budget and submits it to the Council and the Session for approval. It also will help the Director set up financial software.
